Patrick H. Jones was born in 1987 in London, UK. He currently lives and works in London. Derived from his personal memories and losses, Jones’ work depicts ephemeral and ambiguous subjects in the forms of spectral figures. In his paintings, human figures are usually awkwardly bent and twisted, appearing as if they are attacked by a spell of exploding feelings. Likewise, animals become analogies for human emotion: flocks of cawing birds evoke mass hysteria, while the disembodied heads of horses speak to universal and primal unsettledness. Emerging and receding into shadowy areas of thick paints, these imageries suggest shifting notions of self, individuality, and community.
