LINSEED is pleased to participate in Tokyo Gendai 2023 from July 6 to July 9, presenting XIA Shafei (b. 1989, China) and CHEN Jinbin’s (b. 1994, China) duo project, “Blue Blush”, at Booth H12. Showcasing two artists’ latest works, the exhibition immerses the viewer with flesh and corporeality unabashedly soliciting a fetishistic pleasure. As physical as the figural theme, Xia’s ceramics shape domestic objects into body silhouettes while Chen's special framing attempts to resurface the material side of paintings. Though the portraits are in a way realistic and bodies are depicted in ideal shapes, these works gesture towards a re-mystification of the body that explores the relationship between desire and repression and the relocation of pleasure and joy.
