LINSEED is pleased to present “Brushing Against,” a solo project by Shumu (b. 1994, Seoul, South Korea) in Frieze Seoul 2026, booth F10, featuring the artist’s latest woodcuts and wooden installations. Shumu’s woodcuts explore the traces left behind by things as they appear and disappear. Following the natural grain of wood, she allows the carving tool to move organically across the surface, with successive marks gradually accumulating into the forms of animals and plants. Set within scenes from nature, Shumu’s delicate depictions of living beings often generate a ghostly atmosphere. The real and unreal dissolve into one another, weaving together quiet landscapes in which fleeting immortality encounters enduring disappearance.
